Allegheny County Wins AIIM Best Practices Award for AnyDoc Software Enterprise Solution Tuesday, March 18, 2008
TAMPA, FL - AnyDoc Software, Inc., a leading provider of automated document and data capture and classification solutions, announced that the implementation of its core product, OCR for AnyDoc®, at the Allegheny County Controllers Office in Pennsylvania, was the winner of the 2008 AIIM Carl E. Nelson Best Practices Award. Revealed at AIIM's Annual Awards Celebration on March 4 in Boston, Massachusetts, Allegheny County's implementation by PA-based reseller IMR Limited was selected as a best practice in the Enterprise Content Management (ECM) field for the Large Enterprise Category (1,001+ employees).
Presented by AIIM, the ECM industry association which promotes education and resources related to technologies used to capture, manage, store, preserve, and deliver content and documents related to organizational processes, the Carl E. Nelson Best Practices Award recognizes excellence in the ECM field. The term "Best Practices" denotes a standard of excellence that has been achieved within an organization and refers to a process or implementation that can be quantified, adapted, and repeated. Award finalists are named after review of all award nominations by the AIIM Board with winners selected based on votes cast by the professional membership of AIIM.
On hand to accept the award was Allegheny County Controller Mark Patrick Flaherty. Flaherty remarked, "It is always gratifying to improve our business practices while reducing costs for the taxpayers, but having this implementation recognized as a best practice by one of the most well-respected associations in the industry is a great honor." He continued, "The award recognizes not only the benefits provided by OCR for AnyDoc® but also the professionalism and competence of both IMR Limited and the AnyDoc Software team."
As the second-largest county in the state of Pennsylvania, Allegheny County faced a grueling challenge after each election - to manually process both its election poll worker and constable payment forms within an extremely tight 72-hour window - and stay within a conservative budget. To be able to achieve its goals (and eliminate the pain of manual processing), the county selected AnyDoc Software's automated document and data capture solution comprised of OCR for AnyDoc and AnyDoc®EXCHANGEit.
The installation of OCR for AnyDoc was significant because of the dramatic improvement in efficiency realized during the critical election time period. The AnyDoc solution eliminated time-consuming manual processes including the hand-sorting of all incoming forms into one of 1,320 wards (representing 1,320 separate piles of paper) and the hand-keying and manual verification of all of the information from each payment form.
As a result of the AnyDoc implementation by IMR Limited, poll worker and constable payment forms are now processed in less than one-third of the time, easily meeting the 72-hour turnaround deadline and saving hundreds of hours of labor costs with 25 fewer employees needed than prior to automation - a reduction of nearly 85%.
In addition to winning the AIIM Best Practices award, AnyDoc Software was recognized with other awards presented during the annual AIIM Expo. Winner of the ECM Connection ACE Awards in the Healthcare Category, AnyDoc was also named an ACE Award finalist in the Government Category. And, AnyDoc client Revenue Management Solutions was named 2008 I-Cubed Award Finalist for their use of AnyDoc®EOB to automatically process the thousands of healthcare remittances they receive daily.
